It is already known that drinking at least two liters of water per day is essential for the proper functioning of the body and maintaining skin hydration. However, in addition to drinking water, the skin needs other care to preserve its hydration and youthful appearance.
Aesthetics professor Elizabete Rodrigues explains that the skin needs water and oil to maintain the balance of the hydrolipidic mantle. “When the skin is well hydrated, it has a shiny appearance and good elasticity. Dehydrated skin, on the other hand, is dry, opaque, rough and prone to flaking. With the lack of hydration, it loses elasticity faster and begins to develop fine lines and small wrinkles
To avoid dryness and maintain hydration, it is important to drink plenty of fluids. The beautician reveals that it is crucial to protect the skin from the aggressions of the sun with the use of sunscreen, in addition to protecting it from the intense cold. “Avoid scalding baths that favor the evaporation of water on the skin; and the excessive use of soaps, which remove fat from the skin and cause an imbalance in the hydrolipidic mantle, favoring dehydration ” explains Elizabete.
Moisturizing is mandatory, says the professional. “The choice of moisturizer depends on factors that determine the characteristics of each type of skin. Some people do not seek help from specialists to buy the correct moisturizer for their skin type and use the moisturizer indicated by others. However, the hydration that is used for one skin, may not be used for another ”, she points out.
Aging signs begin at around 25 to 30 years of age, the skin naturally begins to lose its ability to retain water, in addition to decreasing the production of proteins that help in the formation of collagen, with which the dreaded expression lines begin to appear. “As the skin begins to have difficulties in retaining the necessary moisture to maintain hydration, it begins to lose its elasticity. As a result, the epidermis becomes thinner and drier and begins to develop lines of expression and small wrinkles ”, says Elizabete, who is also the coordinator of the Technologist in Aesthetics course at the University of Amazônia-Unama.
However, this natural loss of moisture can be compensated with the use of moisturizers and anti-aging creams for each skin type. So look for a professional and see which one is right for your skincare routine. If that is not possible, don’t be discouraged, many products will have their recommendation for skin type on the bottle or accompanying texts.
“Another tip for maintaining hydration is to clean your skin once a month or every two months, as indicated by a professional. With the skin free of excess oil in the pores, hydration will be facilitated and there will be better quality in the permeation of the assets, which will return the quality of the skin, promote integrity and maintain hydration ”, she concludes.
Now knowing how important it is to have a healthy lifestyle and add the proper moisturizer on your daily skincare routine. You will for sure have the best results possible and achieve your glowing and beautiful skin whether you suffer from dryness during the winter or 365 days a year.
